Ingredients

  • Velveeta cheese – The star of this dip, Velveeta melts into a creamy, velvety texture that’s perfect for creating a rich, cheesy base. Its smooth consistency makes it ideal for dips.
  • Chili – Adds a hearty, savory flavor to the dip with a touch of spice. We use Hormel, however you can choose your favorite canned chili for convenience, or make it extra special with homemade chili.
  • Shredded fiesta blend cheese – A mix of cheeses like cheddar, Monterey Jack, and queso quesadilla with a hint of seasoning that adds extra cheesiness and a bubbly, golden topping.

What to Dip in Chili Cheese Dip with Velveeta

Our preferred dipper for Chili Cheese Dip with Velveeta is Fritos Scoops – it’s the perfect vessel for scooping up the warm, cheesy dip. Here are a few other dippers that work well with this recipe:

  • Tortilla chips: We love the crunch of tortilla chips—they’re the perfect contrast to the creamy dip.
  • Potato chips: For a salty, crispy option that pairs perfectly with the rich, cheesy dip.
  • Crackers: Sometimes, we like to switch things up and serve the dip with buttery crackers for a bit of indulgence.
  • Fresh vegetables: If we’re in the mood for something a little lighter, sliced bell peppers, celery, or carrot sticks are great choices.
  • Bread: Warm, soft bread or sliced baguette is another favorite—dipping it into this gooey, cheesy goodness is irresistible.

How to Store Velveeta Chili Cheese Dip

We love making this dip in large batches, and leftovers are always welcome! Store any remaining, once fully cooled, dip in an airtight container (we love these glass containers with locking lids for storing dips!) in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To reheat, we simply warm it in the microwave or on the stovetop over low heat, stirring occasionally until it’s nice and creamy again.

Tips for Making Velveeta Chili Cheese Dip

  • Use leftover chili: This recipe is a great way to repurpose leftover chili for a quick and delicious dip.
  • Cut the Velveeta into small cubes: Smaller pieces melt faster and more evenly, ensuring a smooth and creamy dip.
  • Try a crockpot: Combine the ingredients in a slow cooker and heat on low until melted and bubbly. This method is perfect for keeping the dip warm during parties or game-day gatherings.
  • Fiesta blend cheese: If you can’t find fiesta blend cheese, feel free to use shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a combination of both. These cheeses melt beautifully and will give you a great cheesy topping.
