Ingredients

This dip has a decent list of ingredients, but trust us—it’s 100% worth it. Every item adds a layer of flavor, and the payoff is a creamy, crab-filled dip that’s bursting with bold, spicy goodness.

  • Cream cheese – The rich, creamy base that makes the dip irresistibly smooth.
  • Sour cream – Adds a tangy flavor that balances the richness of the cheese.
  • Mayonnaise – Helps bind everything together with a silky texture.
  • Worcestershire sauce – Gives a savory depth and umami kick.
  • Lemon juice – Brightens the dip and complements the seafood flavor.
  • Garlic – Freshly minced for an aromatic, savory boost.
  • Cajun seasoning – The star of the show, bringing bold, zesty New Orleans flavor. We recommend using Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning.
  • Hot sauce – Adds a spicy punch that pairs perfectly with the creamy base.
  • Green onion – Offers a pop of color and a mild, oniony bite.
  • Sharp cheddar cheese – Melts beautifully and gives the dip a rich, cheesy flavor.
  • Lump crab meat – Sweet, tender, and perfectly balanced with the spices.
  • Salt and pepper – To season everything just right.

What to Dip in Cajun Crab Dip

Our preferred dipper for Cajun Crab Dip is sliced baguette – it’s the perfect vessel for scooping up the warm, cheesy dip. Here are a few other dippers that work well with this recipe:

  • Tortilla chips – A classic, sturdy option that holds up to the thick, cheesy texture.
  • Crackers – Buttery or herbed crackers pair beautifully with the spicy crab flavor.
  • Celery sticks – Add a crisp, refreshing crunch that balances the richness of the dip.
  • Bell pepper strips – Their sweetness complements the heat and adds a pop of color.
  • Pita chips – Hearty and slightly salty, these make a great match for the creamy filling.

Soft pretzels – For an indulgent twist, dip warm pretzel bites into the cheesy crab goodness.

How to Store Cajun Crab Dip

Store any leftover Cajun Crab Dip in an airtight container (we love these glass containers with locking lids for storing dips!) in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To reheat, transfer it to an oven-safe dish and warm it at 350°F until heated through, or microwave individual portions in short intervals, stirring in between.

We don’t recommend freezing this dip, as the creamy texture may become grainy once thawed.

Tips for Making Cajun Crab Dip

  • Use softened cream cheese so it blends easily and creates a smooth, creamy base.
  • Don’t overmix the crab – gently fold it in to keep those tender lumps intact.
  • Adjust the heat to your liking by tasting the mix before baking and adding more Cajun seasoning or hot sauce if desired.
  • Bake until bubbly – look for golden edges and melted cheese on top to know it’s ready.
  • Serve warm for the ultimate gooey, flavorful dip experience.
