Have you ever been in the middle of halving a recipe and realized you need to know what half of 3/4 cup is? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there!
We test a ton of dip recipes and one of our tips is to make half of the recipe and then refine it. This makes sure that nothing goes to waste.
In day-to-day cooking, we use this same strategy to cut back on portions and leftovers. My family regularly halves a recipe so we don’t have an abundance of food we may or may not eat later. Halving recipes is also great for baking when you KNOW you’ll eat an entire pan of brownies, for example— making only half of a recipe helps with temptation.
We say all this to say that it’s really common to halve a recipe, and for the most part, halving something like 1/2 cup is easy because we can do it in our head.
