medium-sized, peeled, cored, and chopped into ¼ inch cubes.

ground cinnamon

lemon juice

Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the apple cubes, brown sugar, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and lemon juice.
Heat a large skillet or saucepan (with a lid) over medium-high heat. Pour the apple mixture and water into the pan.
Bring to a boil, then cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to medium-low.
Simmer until the apples are very tender, about 10 minutes (the exact cooking time depends on the apples).
Remove about ½ cup of the cooking liquid from the pan and whisk in the cornstarch.
Pour the liquid with the cornstarch back into the apples and stir well. Allow the apples to cook over medium-low heat until thickened.
Remove cooked apples from the heat. Serve warm with your favorite dippers.
